Tips for Registering as a Transaction User Entity with the Capetown International Registry
by Scott Burgess, released on Thursday March 16, 2006
A $200.00 fee will entitle a Transactional User Entity ("TUE") to a one-year subscription. You must register from a computer that you, as the Administrator, plan to use for approval of international interests. The International Registry will require that all transaction requests and approvals be sent from the Administrator's computer. The password should be something you, as the Administrator, will all remember.
With Visa, MasterCard or Amex in hand, take the following steps:
1) Confirm you have the latest version of JAVA (JAVA 2 Platform Standard Edition Version 1.4.2 or above) by logging on to http://javatester.org/version.html.
2) Make sure pop-up boxes are allowed you will need to allow pop-ups when downloading your certificate (if your browser allows it, you should consider restricting the authorization of pop-ups for only the International Registry website).
3) Visit the registry at https://www.internationalregistry.aero/irWeb/ and click on "User Area", then click on "Apply to become an approved Administrator User", then follow the directions.
4) You will receive an email (to confirm your email address) within a day or two after registration, to which you must reply.
5) Thereafter, you will receive a call from Registry personnel to confirm the information you provided during the registration process. You will be asked to confirm your employment with the TUE; the TUE's address; your (the Administrator's) birth date; and, if applicable, the TUE's website address.
Your registration will likely be approved within a few business days following the telephone contact with the Registry personnel. You and your customers should expect the registration/approval process to take approximately 8 to 10 days.
Please feel free to contact us should you have any question with respect to the applicability of the Capetown Convention to your transaction.
