Scott Burgess Lobbies United States Congress on behalf of Corporate Aviation
by Aviation Legal Group Editor, released on Sunday February 6, 2005

Scott Burgess was warmly received by multiple legislators in Washington, D.C. when he traveled to the Hill to discuss the effect of the Jobs Creation Act of 2004 and the extension of the "placed-in-service rule" relating to new aircraft bonus depreciation, which incorporated a new provision requiring pro-rata deduction based upon use of company-owned and operated aircraft by people related to the company (e.g, shareholders, directors, officers and employees). This is a topic of major concern to companies operating aircraft on which such related persons regularly travel as it impacts the amount that must be charged to such persons for the flight, and the amount of depreciation that can be used by the company. Other topics of discussion concerned varying matters impacting corporate and general aviation in South Florida.
